Our Mission
Well… how about recycling plastics? Turns out, it’s not as effective as you might think.
Only about 5% of plastics are recycled.
Even “recycled” plastics are taken to landfills for illegal dumping and to incinerators for burning, releasing toxic fumes into the environment. We can’t rely on this “recycling” to reverse the devastating effects on the planet.
Did you know 13 billion pounds of packaging film are used every year?
That’s a lot of plastic. All of it ends up in landfills, leading to harmful effects to human health and destroying ocean wildlife and ecosystems.
Two-thirds of plastic waste comes from films and laminates—we need a better solution.
How it Started
Reducing Waste One Choice at a Time
In 2022, we faced a pressing issue: our burritos were falling apart. To solve that, a team of chemical and biomolecular female engineers from Johns Hopkins University created Tastee Tape! Since then, we have expanded our patent-pending technology to address broader issues surrounding food waste, sustainability, and accessibility.
Tastee Tape aims to reduce the impact made by plastics, making change one choice at a time. Whether you are looking for an eco-friendly and affordable packaging option, or a fun and exciting way to wrap up your food, Tastee Tape is the best choice!
